Cookie Policy

This policy explains the cookies and similar storage this site uses. It is short, because we use very few.

1. What cookies are

A cookie is a small file a website asks your browser to store and send back on later visits. Similar technologies, such as your browser's local storage, keep small amounts of data on your device in the same way. We describe both here.

2. We do not track you

There is no advertising, profiling or third-party analytics on this site. We do not set cookies to follow you around the internet, and we do not share anything with advertising networks. Every item below exists because the site would not work without it, or because you asked for it.

3. What we actually set

• Session cookie — identifies your browsing session so the site knows it is still you between pages. Expires when the session ends. Strictly necessary.
• CSRF token cookie — a security token that stops another website from submitting forms as you. Strictly necessary.
• "Remember me" cookie — set only if you tick that box when logging in, so you stay signed in on this device. Delete it by logging out.
• Theme preference — kept in your browser's local storage so the site opens in light or dark mode as you left it.
• Cookie notice choice — kept in local storage so the notice at the bottom of the page does not ask you again.

None of these are used to build a profile of you, and none are shared with anyone else.

4. Cookies set by our payment providers

When you go to pay, you are handed to Stripe or PayPal. They set their own cookies on their own pages, mainly for fraud prevention, and those are governed by their cookie and privacy policies rather than this one. Nothing is set by them until you start a payment.

5. Embedded content

If a member embeds something from another site, that provider may set its own cookies when the embed loads. We have no control over those and suggest you check that provider's policy.

6. Managing cookies

Every browser lets you view, block and delete cookies and clear local storage — look under Settings, then Privacy. Please note that blocking the strictly necessary cookies above will stop you being able to log in, because the site has no other way to recognise a signed-in member.

7. If that changes

If we ever add analytics or anything else that is not strictly necessary, we will ask for your consent first and update this page before switching it on.
